A few last minute pictures in Moldova

The hard part...

moldova

I COSed on Thursday. However I don’t leave until Sunday.

Tonight, Friday, is my last night at site.  I am really going to miss my host family. They have been awesome and I feel like they treated me like part of the family. It is really frustrating and sad that I can’t easily return the favour and have them as my guests. It is incredibly hard for Modovans to get tourist visas from what I have heard and researched myself. Plus… Airfare and visa fees are expensive. I hope I can get a job in the not so distant future which would nable me to bring them over to visit. My goal is to save extra money (budget) and fly out next summer. Visit London, and then take a detour to good old Moldova.  However I have no idea what my financial situation will be...

COS trip packing list

I did a practice pack and all of my clothes fit into my backpack…  I unfortunately have to take a small duffle bag for my sleeping bag, mosquito net, and I may as well pack my sunscreen, bug spray, pocket knife, razor, and an empty Nalgene in there so they don’t get tossed during security.

I wonder If I can check everything through to Siberia… Probably not.  I do have a 3.5 hour layover, so if worse comes to worse I can recheck my mini bag.

EEEK!

I have 10 days to get everything in order, say my goodbyes (to friends and my family), figure out what to take, what to give away, etc… I'm stressed out, sad, happy, and everything in between.

I feel like I just did this, oh wait I did, 2 years ago!

Amazing how everything (the packing, goodbyes, and range of emotions.) I went through 2 years ago while preparing to leave for PC is a lot like what I am going through right now while I prepare to leave the PC...

COS UPDATE

Okay so my COS trip has been altered a bit…
Because my visa is only good for 3 days in 'Mother Russia,' I am now flying to Lake Baikal (from MOSCOW) and catching the train there to Ulaanbaatar. This will cut 3 days off of my travel on the train (while adding 3 days to my stay in Mongolia.) If all goes well I will enter Mongolia by 8pm the night my visa expires! Wish me luck… :o)

I just remembered a dream I had last night…

I was typing when I noticed liquid under my laptop… I wondered what it could possibly be… Then I suddenly realized my laptop was melting, no wait, liquefying! Then I tried to shut it off and it started to contort in a weird melt-y way.

It was very disturbing and I thought this is just a dream and my dream self woke up to find a melting laptop… And that happened a few times.

Fortunately is was just a dream… Going to shut down my laptop now and give it a nice rest…

Yeah.

Procrastination:

I can’t help but wonder of my procrastination (today after a bit of productive lesson planning, I played dodge ball with my students for 3 hours and then took a nap and watched Ghostbusters II)

Some small part of me dreads getting all the paperwork done because then my end of service will suddenly become a reality.

To do list:

Attend Ambassador’s party

Prepare for national camp on diversity

Finish PCPP paperwork

Site Report

End of the Semester Report

Description of Service (DOS)

Physical Exam

Exit Interview

Pack!

Days left before COS: 22

I bought my ticket to Moscow a few days ago… And I felt sad and slightly stressed. This is not at all what I was expecting to feel.  I felt pressure on my chest and slightly claustrophobic… Would I would imagine to be a mini panic attack of sorts.  And all I can focus on is getting a degree and the experience needed to have a career that would facilitate working abroad again.

***

I have a lot of crap to do.  Somehow the last month of my service seems busier than the past 23. How did that happen?
